Inevitable

I suppose it had to happen sooner or later. I have just learned of a murder which occured in my tiny town. I have often bragged how heavily armed the people who live here are and how we have a very low crime rate.

But that didn't benefit this guy who was beaten to death with a horse switch...in 1965.

Yep, the last murder to occur in my town was 45 years ago.

Executive Level PuSH'er Troll? You Make the Call.

Josh Horwitz, Executive Director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) posted a message on Huffpo:

That disappeared then a nasty little troll by the name of GritsJr left another minutes later:

Both comments went down the memory hole almost immediately but as well we all know, the internet never forgets. So is GritsJr so much of a sycophant that he posted a nearly word for word copy of JH's post just minutes later or is Joshie using a sockpuppet similar to our old friend "Macca" from the Brady's?

UPDATE1: Damage Control? Another post by Josh GritsJr scrubbed:

UPDATE2: Josh GritsJr really loves Josh:

Very interesting piece, and spot-on. These guys who carry guns out to political events and intimidate others with their shows of force are indeed degrading our democracy. For reference, look up how our Founders dealt with these types of thugs during Shay's Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion. They did not hesitate to act. Hopefully, the Obama administration will draw a line at some point, too.

And now he's upset w/ me.

Here's a few more pearls of wisdom from Josh "GritsJr":

Wayne LaPierre & Co. aren't patriots. They're would-be Timothy McVeighs who preach treason against our democracy……They are paranoid and pathetic.
The NRA is certainly encouraging people to blast away –
The Parker decision asserted an INDIVIDUAL right to insurrection, not a right of MILLIONS of individuals. The NRA and CATO are asserting exactly the same thing, and individual right to insurrection. That is how insane this is.
A lot of these guys think McVeigh had a point. And this is the mentality governing gun policy in our country right now.
It can't make any such case openly and honestly, and that is why it resorts to under-handed attacks that attack and manipulate well-meaning individuals, including actual victims and survivors of gun violence.
Heller is completely irrational, and that's probably a compliment. THIS is the guy who Scalia and his four justices changed the meaning of the amendment for? Wow.
Far from "patriots," guys like Glenn Beck and (chuck) Norris are in fact traitors who are openly advocating treason against our constitutional democracy.
Timothy McVeigh would have used Heller as a legal defense for his bombing of the Murrah Building
Anyone who believes that the gun lobby is being driven by liberals, moderates or minorities is delusional. It's a far right wing, white male-dominated movement that won a narrow 5-4 decision in the Roberts Court,
Are you maniacs inferring that the effort to renew the ban on assault weapons justifies the killing of police officers?
I've never met a progressive in my life who advocates for the NRA agenda, and I've met thousands of progressive over the course of my life.
Someone's been reading "The Turner Diaries" too much. Creepy...
Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox don't believe any of this insane insurrectionist nonsense. But they're corrupt as hell and it sure sells lots of guns to people on the far right wing of American politics.
The gun industry has steadily over decades promoted an arms race between criminals and law enforcement.

Feel free to add your own and note any similarities, all just coincidental, I'm sure. Knowing the tendency towards 'Reasoned Discourse' among the gun grabber community, who knows how long the profile is going to last.

These are the leaders in the 'Gun Control' community.

Daley Gun BuyBack Short of Funds

While calling for people to turn in their guns that they aren't supposed to have because they are banned, turns out support for these are pretty low on the list when it comes to tight economic times:

But the Chicago Sun-Times reported there are worries about funding the gun turn-in program. Former police Supt. Terry Hillard, who is the chairman for the fundraising drive, told the newspaper only $50,000 has been raised to bankroll the program, which would only be enough to cover 666 pre-paid MasterCards.

Poor Daley. He really needs a vacation.

TURN IN YOUR GUNS!!!

Under the auspice of another ineffective 'gun buyback', Chicago Mayor Daley has announced his real intentions:

“I wish the President would call upon people to turn in their guns. I wish the governor would do that —all elected officials — and say, ‘Guns destroy people.’ ’’

Today it's voluntary. Daley wants to make it mandatory.

As an aside, these are the kind of 'guns' that are being turned in.

Et Tu Brute?

One of the most under appreciated benefits of having a woodstove/fireplace is that there’s always a stack of old newspapers lying around that is slowly shredded into tiny ribbons by mice who then haul bundles of it into your underwear drawer, give birth next to your jockey shorts and then generally use them as their own personal toilet. Somebody asked me once if I ever regretted living so far out in the boonies? After giving it some thought, I responded…

“Once you jump out of bed with the sunrise as your alarm clock, get dressed and then have to get partially undressed to rescue a hairless preemie tangled up in your pubes, there’s just no going back to city life.”

Where was I? Oh yeah, old newspapers. I like going through old papers, reading the articles to compare what all the pundits predicted about this development or that with what has come to pass. Occasionally, I also do this with Brady Bunch reports.

Titles are always a good place to start…

#1 “Guns & The 2008 Elections: Common Sense Gun Laws Won, The NRA Lost, & What It Means.”
-A report by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, November 6, 2008

#2 “President Obama’s First Year: Failed Leadership, Lost Lives.”
-Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, January 2010.

In order to fully appreciate the desperation of this adversary, one need only acknowledge how far they’ve fallen and how fast. Their own words have always been their own worst enemy; our job has always been to remind them of that.

#1 “The 2008 elections marked a major victory for common sense gun laws. Never in our nation’s history have we had an incoming President and Vice President more supportive of strong gun laws.”

#2 “President Obama’s first year record on gun violence has been an abject failure.”

#1 “After eight years of an Administration that catered to the gun lobby…”

#2 “In just one year, Barack Obama has signed into law more repeals of federal gun policies than President George W. Bush’s eight years in office.”

#1 “Barack Obama’s campaign also provided a model to politicians of how to talk about the gun issue.”

#2 “…the White House muzzled cabinet members who called for sensible gun laws.”

#1 “One of the biggest losers in the 2008 elections was, undoubtedly, the NRA.”

#2 “Administration officials parroted NRA slogans to just enforce the law on the books…”

It gets better.

#1 “The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is a national non-profit organization working to reduce the tragic toll of gun violence in America…”

#2 “Mr. Holder, however, emphasized the Administration’s focus on the tools available “right now” and said, “I look forward to working with the NRA to come up with ways in which we can use common sense approaches to reduce the level of violence we see.”

This is an intentional slight against the Brady Bunch. Holder’s use of the phrase “common sense” makes that clear and he also uses the simple word “violence” without the gun qualifier. We are winning, for now.

Crimes Against Intelligence

Six years after the state Supreme Court dismissed his $433 million lawsuit against the gun industry, Mayor Daley today called for a change of venue — to the World Court normally reserved for disputes between nations and crimes against humanity.

Wrapping up the sixth annual Richard J. Daley Global Cities Forum, Daley convinced more than a dozen of his counterparts from around the world to approve a resolution urging "redress against the gun industry through the courts of the world" in The Hague.

Philly Mayor Nutty is one of those supporting him.

Does anything else need to be said on how desperate and disjointed the Gun Banners have become?

Defacto Bans

In 1968, Chicago and Washington DC passed ordinances requiring the registration of all firearms.

In 1976, Washington DC prohibited the registration of any new handguns.

In 1982, Chicago followed suit.

Defacto bans on handguns.

In Illinois, a firearm owner is required to obtain a FOID card from the state. The state, by law, has 30 days to issue or deny the license.

Several times in the last few years, the ISP has 'delayed' issuing of FOID's up to 6 months, ending only when a public outcry was raised and multiple state legislators started questioning them.

(Potential) Defacto ban on firearms.

The state of Massachusetts requires 'private sellers' to fill out and send into the authorities a form FA-10 to legally transfer a firearm.

According to GOAL, the vendor who owns the rights to the form will no longer supply said form and the state has no idea when a new version will be available.

Defacto ban on private transfers.

So tell me, what reason do firearm owners have that the 'reasonable, common-sense' laws that 'gun control' advocates want won't continue to be expanded and/or abused?

Nothing Comparable

It's been regularly discussed that the PuSH'ers have nothing comparable to the social networks firearm enthusiasts develop (ie no anti-gun shops, no anti-gun shows, etc.) They also have nothing comparable to the fun and education encountered at a Youth Day at a range.

How many of those kids do you think are going to give up shooting because PuSH'ers like the Brady Campaign tell them they're going to shoot themselves?

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy Pro-2A?!?!

She is. According to her.

I have never been against people owning guns for protection, hunting, or sport.

Once again, I am not against people owning and carrying their guns, nor am I attacking an individual's Second Amendment rights.

That's right. Ms. "Shoulder Thing That Goes Up" is really on OUR side. She just wants some 'reasonable' and 'common-sense' 'limits' so we don't revert to the 'Wild West'.

Which is why she's been a part of pretty much every inane gun control scheme introduced, is rated F by both the NRA and GOA, and is regularly endorsed by the Brady Campaign and the PEG heads.

"Wild West"? "Shootouts over coffee"? Really. Get some new f^ck1ng material.

Daley's Tunnel Vision

According to the Chicago Mayor, violent crime has nothing to do with gangs, drugs, poverty, a 50% HS drop out rate, or broken families.

"This is all about guns, and that's why the crusade is on," Daley said

The man is an obsessed fanatic with no regard for anything but his personal causes. He's already shown he'll throw away countless millions of tax dollars even while the city faces one of the most severe budget crisis in decades and he'll do anything he can to spread his diseased ideas across the rest of the state. Hence the push in legislature.

Some are suggesting this whole "Call in the Nat'l Guard" thing is a part of a ploy to get the anti-gun bills passed. I wouldn't put it past them.

I really wish my dead grandparents would stop voting for him.

A "System of Ordered Liberty"

That's what the Response Brief by Chicago et al in the McDonald stated the handgun ban would 'enhance' as 'the most effective means to reduce fear, violence, injury, and death."

Which is why local legislators are calling for the IL Natl Guard to come in to control crime for the second time in two years along with the Illinois State Police.

Back From the Dead

From the IL NRA Lobbyist:

There have been some meetings among legislators to try and see if there was a package of guns issues that could be worked out. It’s not going very well. They don’t like the answer NO to most of their ideas.

Then today I was informed that the Chicago gun bills would be moved back to the floor for votes next week....

So sometime in the next week we could see an all out fight on the floor of the House for everything from semi-auto ban, no private handgun sales, dealer licensing/registration, the “gang” bill, to the “Diggins” bill on transportation of firearms, one gun per month and who knows what else.

They are scheduled to go in on Tuesday and be in through the weekend. So starting Monday morning you need to call your state representative and tell them to oppose all of the Chicago anti-gun bills.

This is an act of desperation on their part to try and get anything passed that they can before McDonald gets decided. I'm betting this is also why the Brady's started their push for the "Gun Show Loophole" since that has the scariest name w/ the most traction currently.

Here's a list of the bills that are likely to be pushed this week and the ISRA Alert. Make your calls.
